Kappa¹ Cet is a yellow dwarf much like our Sun in the constellation Cetus 29.8 ly from Earth. Its surface is about 5,667 K, and it shines at 0.84× the Sun's brightness. At magnitude 4.8 it is bright enough to see with the naked eye; the light you see left it 30 years ago.
